On Sunday July 11th it is the 15th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, when around 8 000 muslim men and boys were killed by Bosnian-Serb forces. Together with our partners we have created an educational material that describes the crime.

”Srebrenica Mapping Genocide” was presented in Sarajevo on July 8th and in Belgrade on July 9th, to the media and the wider public. In cooperation with our partners Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Fama International, we hope that this project will contribute to increased knowledge, continued research and memory of the genocide committed in Srebrenica.

“Srebrenica Mapping Genocide” consists of printed, online and DVD versions of documentary maps of actions, and detailed information around the events that led to the genocide in Srebrenica, as well as concrete information on the crime, gathered through an intensive research process.

For the first time since the war, this kind of educational tool for studying the events from the recent past has been created in an attempt to increase awareness about the crime among the general public of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, and also to foster conditions for further dealing with the recent past in the region of the former Yugoslavia.

On Sunday, July 11th, the maps will appear in DVD and print version in both Bosnian and Serbian media, with links to the projects’ web site www.srebrenica-mappinggenocide.com.
